Ardmore, about seven miles away, provides the area's commercial and civic hub, with the Arbuckle Mountains framing the region to the north.

Lake Murray State Park, Oklahoma's largest state park with about 150 miles of shoreline, is the area's recreation centerpiece, offering boating, fishing, swimming, camping, hiking, and nature programs. The Arbuckle Mountains and Chickasaw National Recreation Area lie to the north, adding waterfalls, trails, and springs. Lone Grove's own parks offer disc golf, a skate park, and playgrounds, while Ardmore adds golf at Lakeview Golf Course and regional sports and events.
